Dear Mike,

Got to know about you through an article over the internet. I just want to tell you that I have been selected for carnival cruise. I have two and a half years of experience with the hoslitality industry, but I have shown experience of three years on my resume that I submitted to the recruitment team. There was a gap of six months during the time when I shifted from one job to another so in order to cover those six months I made a fake experience letter. I know this is not right thing to do and at the same time I am the only working person in my family to support them. Rest all my doccuments are up to date nor I have any criminal record. I need ur guidense should I try my luck ? Or just forget about cruise as I know its very difficult to get another cruise ship job opportunity here in India. I have already cleared the interview and also the medical test. I dont have any Idea about what to do? Please suggest me.
Thanks and regards,
Achal.

Well, you shouldnt have lied, but whats done is done. To be honest, a gap of 6 months is perfectly explainable. You were between jobs. Period. Its none of their business beyond that. In the future you shouldnt feel like you have to hide something that everyone does a couple times in their careers. IE: change jobs.

So, if they hired you already then your fine. Expect not to have the issue come up again. You will go onboard and begin your exciting new career onboard cruise ships. Be prepared to work hard and you will move up. As my Nanna used to say "Dont take no shit from no one."

So yeah, if they offered you the job then dont worry about it.

Cheers,
Mike

Dear Sir o Lady,

I am pleased to enclose my CV in onjetive to Achieve a position in a company based, preferably, in nautic jobs, especially bout chef mate or other crew membwer..

I considered myself a person with initiative, used to lead teams, and experienced in several industries, specifically in sail boats, Mediterranean and international cooking (especially Spanish and Italian recipes).., flexible location but preferably in Miami , Caribean or Mediterranean places.

Yours sincerely,
Jorge Lopez
Spain

Jorge, if its a job onboard that you want, consider one of the many crewing sites out there. For yachts I've used Luxyachts and for sailboats Find a Crew is very reputable. Sounds like you want to cook, so apply for those positions and see how it goes. Keep in mind, you will have a much easier time finding work if you are at the port of call that has a lot of boats. Be in Miami/ Fort Lauderdale from now until May. By then all the boats have left for better summer waters. You might actually be better off looking for a crewing company or walking the docks in Spain. Barcelona is a great area for sailboats who've just made it over from the USA for the summer med cruising season.

Good Luck.
Mike

Hey,

So its been my life long dream to be a roadie as well as travel. So iv started doing the travelling part, but would like to find out how to get onto a tour with a band touring the states or even Europe.
I have a diploma in sound engineering and 6 years experience in the live production industry, could you maybe give me a few pointers as to which site to look at or who to contact for this kind of work?

I look forward to hearing form you soon.

Jennifer

My three favorite resources for roadie jobs online are as follows.

Roadie.net - Really cool resource. Looking at the photos makes me want to get back on the road.
Roadie Jobs- An obvious title for an obvious website for roadie jobs.
Back Stage Jobs - They have some touring jobs posted. You won't find Bon Jovi here, but you will find some work.

Other than this, look into getting hooked up with a crewing agency in your area to pick up freelance work. It might be union work it might not. All depends on your city. As well, look into working for a venue in their AV or sound department. That will get you in contact with the right people to get hired. It's hard living the rock and roll roadie lifestyle, but when you get in, than you're in.

Hello, my name is Robert and I am interested in possible empolyment with your traveling carnival. I currently reside in Kenosha, WI but I'd like to see the country. I am a very hard worker, roofing here in Kenosha so that is no problem. If you could contact me back at my e-mail or phone (XXX) it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Robert

Dear Robert, or is it Crystal. Or is it Javier? I don't know because the email address and the names associated with it are all different. For starters, if you want a job, work on consistency. Second, I don't own or operate a traveling carnival. If I did, I wouldn't be writing this. I would probably be busy taming lions or riding elephants. I do however suggest you check out the Current Openings page of this website for a couple leads on Carnival jobs.

Good Luck.

Mike

hello me and my partner are wanting to do a seasonal job at the end of the year we are interested in alaska how long would we be working there and what website can we find a job on???

please email back

regards,
Amy

Hi Amy,

The best website is coolworks, without a doubt. Other than that, you can always go to craigslist at the beginning of the summer season. If that doesn't work, then try going through a few local Alaskan newspapers classified sections online. The summer season will last anywhere from April or May to about September or October.

Hey Miker,

I read your article on cruise work... You seem like you know the best
cruise lines to work for. Where have you worked?

Julie

Hi Jules,

I have only worked for two, and I enjoyed them thoroughly. I would say though, that any line you work for will be about the same as the rest: parties, work hours, etc. Start applying to each of the well known brands and get that first job. After you get a bit of experience, you will learn about the properly posh cruise lines. The expedition cruises and the live aboard or world cruise lines. I recommend you only apply for the higher end cruise lines after you have worked in the industry for a year or so.

Good Luck!

"Miker"
