National Holidays and Independence Days Celebrated Around the World in March

Around the world people like to celebrate and there's no better occasion than a national holiday. Here is a list of countries who will be celebrating their national holiday in the month of March.

Aruba – March 18. Flag day or Anthem Day is what is celebrated in the Caribbean Island of Aruba. This day holds additional value as it is the anniversary of Aruba becoming an autonomous state. Find flags being displayed, folkloric events and other traditional celebration in Oranjestad.

Bangladesh – March 26. On this day Bangladesh celebrates declaring its independence from Pakistan. Following this, war broke out which lasted nine months. They have ceremonies to commemorate the lives lost in the battles back in 1971. In recent years they have even canceled plans for celebrations due to potential attacks.

Bulgaria – March 3. On this day Bulgaria declared Liberation Day. They declared restoration of the 3rd Bulgarian kingdom after 500 years of ottoman rule. Ceremonies are held throughout the country and includes speeches and parades.

Ghana – March 6. Being he first African Country to claim its independence, Ghana celebrates to recognize the years of struggles before them. They celebrate with drums, music and fireworks.

Greece – March 6. Around the country, Greece celebrates its independence from the Ottoman Empire back in 1821.

Guam – March. Discovery day is celebrated in Guam on the first Monday of each March.

Ireland – March 17. St Patrick's Day is a national holiday on the anniversary of the death of Saint Patrick. It's on this day they celebrate being Irish with a pint.

Mauritius – March 12. This island in the Indian Ocean Island celebrates with parades, its independence from the UK.

Namibia – March 21. Celebrating its independence from South Africa, they have feasts, parades and carnivals.

Tunisia – March 20. In Tunisia they celebrate with parades and speeches as they are free from French rule.
