There are many careers that you can follow when you want freedom and want to travel. Many people don’t know where to turn or even how to go about doing just that. Teaching English overseas and web based work are the most popular options that people choose. In those scenarios you still have deadlines and have to “report to work” when your clients or students need you. I chose Day Trading because you really do have your freedom (my way of saying I’m lazy).
You can trade any time of the day and on any market in the world as long as you have a good solid strategy. If I do well I don’t have to work a few days. I can even take days off as I please and not have to report to anyone except myself.
One of the biggest proponents of day trading is that when the economy goes sour day traders are able to make more money because we work with volatility. We can make money when the market goes up or down. Will you get advertising on your travel blog if companies start to tighten up? Or will there be people looking to build a new website?
The only downside to day trading is that you need good reliable high speed internet. Most countries now have sufficient speeds but a café with Wi-Fi won’t necessarily be enough. If you are going on an African Safari for 2 months then don’t expect to make money either. No internet, no filet mignon for you.
I carry three bags on all my travels. The first is a laptop case that carries all my technology; 2 laptops, a 19 inch monitor, cables, 2 cameras etc. I’m obsessed with having a backup for everything that’s why I bring two lap tops. A book bag and one item of check luggage.
When I travel I prefer to rent an apartment because most times it costs less or the same as a hostel. I love to couch surf but that would be too much of an issue to ensure that I would have reliable internet.

My first move overseas was to the gorgeous island of Sicily (more of a relocation) I was able to complete all my things to do in Sicily in a matter of months because of the free time. On our recent trip we were able to complete all the Argentina tourist attractions (apartment included) on $15 a day.
It is possible and its one of the additional options you can consider when taking a profession that allows you to have your freedom and travel.
