The Greece-iest Place on Earth

Ruins of Athens GreeceGreek Flag Flapping

Athens, Greece - Athens is a place you can get lost in for days. The grounds are huge so it is wise to bring a guide book if you do decide to go it on your own. Of course, expect to find the largest crowds around the more well known ruins such as the Parthenon. Be prepared for the cattle walk if you visit during high season. If your not into crowds then stay at one of the cafe's across the street and have an Alpha.

ParthenonPillars of the Parthenon

There is an ongoing reconstruction project at the site of the Parthenon as you can see by the scaffolding in the picture above. While at times this might detract from experiencing history, it didn't detract any more than the mob of people who don't seem to mind

As well, we might never get to see what the Parthenon looked like in its prime as it was actually covered in splashes of greens, blues and reds. The Parthenon has been weathered over time and the paint is no longer noticeable.

SantoriniSantorini Greece from the top

Santorini, Greece - Here was the port of Santorini Greece on a slow day with only 3 ships in. To get into the city from the inside of the volcano, you have to either take the Tram, climb the steps, or take a donkey. While up top, you have an amazing view of the Sea, and its easy to find great seafood as it's not even a stones throw away. Santorini, great for relaxing, drinking greek wine, and eating great seafood.

Santorini on the way down watch out for donkeys and tourists both leave there crap everywhere

Don't forget that when you walk down the steps you are sharing those steps with donkeys and tourists. Why we haven't decided to ride the tourist down is another question. Funny thing is what they share in common is both being in the way and leaving their crap everywhere. Just something else to consider.

Mykonos Panoramic

Mykonos, Greece - Another of the more popular Greek Islands, Mykonos hosts to many European summer vacationers. This photo was taken while cruising around on a rented ATV. This is the best way to see the Island if you only have a day. It is a very small island and you can see a lot in a short amount of time. See more Mykonos, Santorini and our other panorama of Greece.

Mykonos is also well known for its gay party scene with popular haunts being Ramrod Club in Mykonos Town and Ikaros with its nightly drag shows. As the saying goes, "When in Greece, do as the Greeks do" wait, I meant to say "When in grease..."

Mykonos Greece Sunset

There must be something in the air that makes the sunsets in Greece so magical.
Sometimes life just seems too good to be true.
